While the xenophobes regularly hijack the debate about the origins of Islam and how this influences it fanatics (and as an aside, why arent there more Tibetan suicide bombers?) putting ones head in the sand about the Quraans inherent advocation of violence, xenophobia, racism, homophobia etc does not do the situation or anyone affected any justice.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12497291.post-26804026523776425052010-08-31T11:36:03.219+10:002010-08-31T11:36:03.219+10:00The fanatically hostile reaction of the American R...The fanatically hostile reaction of the American Right to the so-called Ground Zero Mosque is frightening, but I have heard the familes of people who died on 9/11 express their feelings in much more concilliatory terms. Whilst the freedom to worship is a fundamental right in America, I feel that the Muslim community have an opportunity to build a bridge across the chasm of ignorance and make a very meaningful concession to the wishes the bereaved in a spirit of respect and understanding. It is grossly unfair that Muslims should be placed in this position, but someone has to take the first step. The mosque may not go ahead anyway. Before the authorities or the accountants make a determination, the committee in charge of the project should reach out their hands to the community. The voices from outside will crow hollow victory but the community of New York will be stronger.girishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05533115426245888128noreply@blogger.com
