Last Friday 9 December 2016, long time supporter of Architects for Peace Ralph Green passed away after a long illness at the age of just 57. A vision and social scientist, as well as co-director of social research and design consultancy Visionary Design Development, Ralph was a personal friend of many of our members and an important advocate for equitable access to the built environment for people of all abilities. Since 2006, he had pioneered a unique tool to measure neighbourhood accessibility, the Universal Mobility Index.

The world has lost – far too soon – a great pragmatist and a great dreamer, one of those rare meetings of heart and mind. He will be missed by many. Our thoughts are with Ralph’s partner in life and work of close to forty years, Mary Ann Jackson.
